Intensifier

Intensifiers, also called compounders or jar accelerators, work with a compatible jar to increase jarring impact. They supplement the energy available from the work string, particularly in shallow wells with limited pipe stretch or deviated wells where drag reduces effective jarring.

In a conventional straight-pull assembly, the hydraulic compounder stores energy under tension and releases it when the jar fires, accelerating the drill collars above the jar.
